As a National Media Contributor/Beauty Editor, Janet Shields Scott’s lifestyle and beauty articles have been featured in Magazines; Heart & Soul, UpScale, Sister 2 Sister, InStyle, Associated Press, Amalgamated Publishers, Soap Opera Hair, The Network Journal, Indianapolis Business Journal. On television in New York City: WNYC CH. 31, What’s The 411?, The Home Shopping Network (HSN), and other cable stations. In addition, Mrs. Scott has lent her hosting skills to Radio One in Indianapolis on The Chat Room, WTLC 106.7 FM - In New York City on Radio One WWRL 1600 AM, The Dr. Jeff Gardere Show, and The Larry Hardistee Sports Show.
In 1999, Janet launched her own nationally syndicated radio feature. Throughout Janet’s career she has interviewed: Rosa Parks, Tony Dungy, Heather Locklear, Oprah Winfrey, Diana Ross, Beyoncé, and others. She has also covered the Red Carpet at The Emmy Awards, The Grammy Awards, The Oscars and The Soul Train Awards.
Janet attended Kentucky State University, and Indiana University as a Communications major. She also attended the Queen Broadcast Center in Queens, NY, and New York Films & Video Arts Center.
The modest beauty also holds three beauty licenses: New York, Texas, Indiana, as well as, a New York Real Estate License and a YMCA Fitness Certification.
In Ms. Scott’s earlier years she worked as a skincare consultant, and makeup artist for Adrien Arpel, Revlon, and Shisedo Cosmetics. With a brief stint on Broadway in New York, she worked in the Hair and Makeup Department for The Phantom of the Opera and Jelly’s Last Jam with Gregory Hines, Phylicia Rashad and Savion Glover.
Janet’s skincare advice has been quoted in several major skincare brochures and cosmetic counter cards. She currently conducts workshops and seminars in ‘Career Style’ and ‘Office Stress Relieving Stretches’.
During off days, Janet spends time helping her husband, retired major league baseball player, Rodney Scott with autograph signings and his baseball memorabilia.
